Deepavali 2009

This Deepavali (2009) was a great one for me. Why? Because all my children, their spouses and grandchildren were all gathered at home. We also had Ben's brother and girlfriend with us. We then went to Johore Baru to celebrate Jiiveen's arrival! A great day indeed.

Eleanor's naming

On 13th April we conducted the naming ceremony for our 4th grandchild.  She was named Eleanor Jhaswini Nehaa Millar.  The paternal grandparents and others in UK are going to call her Eleanor, while we have decided to call her Nehaa.

In Bristol UK

The weather has changed dramatically.  After almost a month of shivering under layers of cloth, both my wife and I are now comfortable with our usual and normal Malaysian clothes.  Instead of putting on socks, shoes etc we are now free to walk barefoot inside the house.  Hope this weather will continue, which they say it should seeing that summer is around the corner! Baby Millar's naming ceremony will be held on 13 April according to Malayalee traditional rituals, which of course I will be conducting!  Becoming a bit of an expert, if I may say so!!!

In UK

Its already April 9 and British Summer time has started. But there seems to be no sign of the summer weather yet! Hopefully, we will get better weather in the days to come, at least before we go back to Malaysia! Here in UK its already election fever. And back in Malaysia its time for the Population Census. Reports says that it will start on July 6 and end on August 22. Hope that this time around the enumerators will be properly trained before they are sent out to do the census. The last time around the Malayalee ethnic group was completely mis-counted. All Malayalees should ensure that they are properly categorised this time around.

In UK

We arrived in UK on the night of 4th March to a really freezin weather. Lucky we were quite prepared as our daughter Geeta had already warned us earlier. Anyway Ben and Geeta were at the Heathrow Airport to greet us. Ben drove us to Bristol. Geeta gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on 16th March. We will be here until end May. It is now already end March, but there seems to be no change in the weather. Certain parts of Britain are still having snow-storms. We are waiting for snow to experience it first hand!!!!
