My 70th Birthday
My grandchildren Eleanor and Shabareesh had their birthdays on 16th March and 18th March respectively. And mine was on 19th March. So our children and their spouses planned a trip to Thailand to an island known as Koh Lipe on the western coast of Thailand in Satun Province. The island is the smallest of an archipelago of 4 islands.
This island is about 1 1/2 hours by speedboat from a small coastal town called Pakbara. The ride was quite rough and the children were a little scared. But it was enjoyable too.
We arrived on the island and checked into the Lipe Beach Resort. Jeevan, his wife Theeba and son Geetan checked into the smaller cabin while Rubin, Lata, children Jiiveen & Shabareesh & Vanshika and Leela and I checked into a bigger room.
The beach was very clean and the water crystal clear. Many Western tourists were there lazing on the beach trying to get a tan. Almost all the women were in bikinis.
We visited the nearby Walking Street, a mini town where there were many massage parlours, bars and night clubs. Most of these places including the restaurants were geared for the Western tourists. This was the high season and prices were really expensive.
We stayed two nights there and departed on 21st morning reaching home at about 3am on 22nd.
